Our Garden

It has been a real challenge to provide fresh garden produce for Chef, because of the distance to Nairobi, from where we are supplied. Bushtops is located at an altitude of more than 1800 meters above sea level, on the edge of the Great Rift Valley; but it is an area which is blessed with fertile soils.

Alex, the Head Chef, whose high culinary standards and insistence on the best quality of fresh produce, lead him to initiate the development of a vegetable and herb garden at Bushtops. During quieter times, he teamed up with the staff and prepared the soil for this project.

This garden produces parsley, basil, chillies, coriander, lettuce, spinach, runner beans, tomatoes and carrots, to name but a few. Traditional Kenyan vegetables are also grown, much to the appreciation of the staff.
