Intruder chased offPosted by ranger in Bushtops Daily Game Reports |

Intruder chased off.
It was in the morning hours when we saw a hippo being chased away by another. It was a territorial male chasing away an intruder from his area of residence. At first from a distance as we approached, we saw both the intruder and the territory owner showing their formidable teeth at each other but they did not fight as the intruder gave up when the dominant male roared aggressively at him. Normally male hippos defend particular areas of water in the rivers from other males and fierce fights would erupt if the intruder does not become submissive.
