Bull Elephants are usually not very aggressive and will always avoid human confrontation as much as possible.They will send signal to warn you if  trying to get too close, like flapping their Ears or even trumpeting. They are known to have good memory and can be very temperamental if annoyed causing massive damage.

This has been the case here at the camp with the Bull Elephant which is usually left behind by the Herd and will stay around the camp for almost a week before leaving to join the herd. It will be seen most of the time eating very close to the Guests and Staff tents. A Bull Elephant can eat close to 450 Kg of vegetation a day, forcing it to eat day and night .

Martial eagles are the most powerful birds of prey. They are made for a kill and will easily kill medium sized Birds, Reptiles and Mammals like Rabbit, Rock Hyrax and Small Antelopes.

 Gordon and his guest saw the martial eagle eating its kill near a rock, which happened to be the Rock Hyrax. It started by peeling off the hair and thereafter started enjoying its meal.

The short rains came and subsided shortly in November last year but came back in full swing over christmas and after new year.This has facilitated good pasture growth in the open savannah in maasai mara reserve, enjoyed by the gazelles currently. The cheetahs inturn have been attracted to this fields and driving through can reward with the cats sighting.

Daniel on full day game drive came across a cheetah and a cub that had made a kill a few minutes before arriving. The sun was biting hard but they continued to fill before the larger predators come to take over and was stunning to watch them feeding.

Leopards are very difficult to find during the day this is because they Hunt during the Night and sleep during the day .Here in Serengeti National park we have more leopards than cheetah but because of their Nocturnal way of life people end up seeing cheetah more than leopards. They are Solitary cats and hardly do you find over two together unless they are on honeymoon.

Godson while on the game drive came across two leopards together only for them to find they are on their Honeymoon

It was very hot in the afternoon and  Simon was about to set lunch for his guests under the Acacia tree, when he  saw lions a kilometer away. They decided to drive near them only to find Old lioness being  trailed by a pride of lion, as it was an intruder. Sudenly they  heard a loud groaning sound which was scary and the poor lioness  was in the middle covered by the entire pride. Although  later it managed to escape the damage was already done and its body covered with blood.As the pride was still following it behind Simon guests told him to drive away as they could not stand seeing the poor lioness being subjected to more pains.later they came across cubs playing under the close supervision of their mothers .It was sweet to watch as they play.

When a lion is injured and it’s alone like this one its chances of survival are reduced tremendously as it cannot hunt properly leading to its death due to hunger.

Lion have a hard  time to kill a buffalo. This is because they defend themselves as a block, making it impossible for the lion to penetrate the Herd. A number of times rangers have come across wounded Lion as a result of their confrontation with the Buffalo.

Simon on early morning game drive with his Guests came across a buffalo herd chasing a pride of lion. It was a big drama as they  had to flee for their lives. The cubs were not spared either. This surprised Simon and his  guests and wondered who really are the true kings of the jungle, when in fact those known to be are almost becoming a kill. Lion is known to kill mostly solitary Bull buffalo which has been chased away from the herd.It will call for more than one lion to bring down a Bull Buffalo.

Lion always have a problem bringing up their cubs as they are venerable to hyenas and leopards. Elephants and Buffalos will not spare them either. This makes the lioness very nervous, prompting it to move them from one den to the other in search of a thicker bush.

As Simon was doing his full day game drive came across a lioness with its cub on the month moving it to a better place. After it realized it was being watched turned direction to confuse Simon and his guest not to know where the rest of the cubs were.

Leopards are solitary cats which will always fight each other to maintain territories. Unfortunately what they believe is their territory happens to be also lion’s, this makes leopard’s enemy to lions. Lions are known to injure leopards or even kill them on confrontation. This might have been the case with the leopard Simon saw with his guests as they were heading to the airstrip.  The wound was still fresh and itchy, forcing the leopard to leak it every now and then.

Alex with his two guests left the camp with a mission to explore the sand river. The main target was the sand river lion pride found on the rock kopjes near the gate. On arriving at the territory the search didnt last long before his spotter saw some movement at a distance and informed Alex. Driving there was really worth it as they found a cheetah and four small cubs at least a month old. The cubs were learning walking and at the same time discovering the new niche.

Alex explained to the guests that being lion territory it posed them a lot of risk and the mother could be aware and thats why they were on the move to a safer territory. The guests were really impressed and even after finding the big pride of lion the peak of the day remained the cheetah sighting.

Northern Serengeti has many herds of Elephants. Elephants do not have territories or boundaries, they always move the way they like. Sometimes they do go to the nearby village  which is around 20km away from the camp for  Pumpkins, Cassava, Millet etc. which they like so much. This does prompt the Tanzanian park Authorities to chase them back to the park; as a result the Elephants get furious for being denied what they think is their favorite meal. This was the case today as our Rangers were dropping the Guests to the Airstrip, when they were made to wait for fifteen minutes after Elephants blocked the road. At one point the matriarch tried to charge on them.
