THE BULL ELEPHANTPosted by ranger in Bushtops Daily Game Reports |
Reporting Date: 19.01.2013
Bull Elephants are usually not very aggressive and will always avoid human confrontation as much as possible. They will send signal to warn you if trying to get too close, like flapping their Ears or even trumpeting. They are known to have good memory and can be very temperamental if annoyed causing massive damage.
This has been the case here at the camp with the Bull Elephant which is usually left behind by the Herd and will stay around the camp for almost a week before leaving to join the herd. It will be seen most of the time eating very close to the Guests and Staff tents. A Bull Elephant can eat close to 450 Kg of vegetation a day, forcing it to eat day and night .
